Get Better Air Circulation with Lennox® Air Handlers
Air handlers give you even better control over your home’s air. They’re connected to a heat pump or air conditioner to filter and circulate the air before it enters your rooms. At Air Max HVAC Inc. we carry a variety of air handlers that provide a quietly operating, constant flow of air, helping you stay more comfortable and more relaxed.
Air handlers improve indoor air quality since the steadily circulating air prevents pollutants and allergens from building up. Constantly operating may sound like it uses a lot of energy, however, technology in Lennox® air handlers allows the unit to use only the energy they need, which may actually reduce your energy expenses. It’s just as nice as it sounds.
Air handlers, or air handling unit (often abbreviated to AHU), is a system used to regulate and circulate air as part of a heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning (HVAC) system. An air handler is typically constructed with metal, has a large box containing a blower, sound attenuators/reducers, heating or cooling elements, filter racks or chambers, and dampers. An air handler will usually be connected to a ductwork ventilation system that distributes the conditioned air through the building and returns it to the air handling unit. Sometime, an air handling unit discharges (supply) and admits (return) air directly to and from the rooms served without ductwork.
Smaller air handlers are called terminal units, and might only include an air filter, a coil, and blower- these simple units are called blower coils or fan coil units. A larger air handler that conditions 100% of the outside air, but no recirculated air, is commonly referred to as a makeup air unit (MAU).
